Recently, the Shantou City Meteorological Bureau of Guangdong Province has joined hands with civil affairs, agricultural and rural departments to carry out investigations on hidden dangers of rural lightning disasters. The inspection team focused on understanding the installation and coverage of lightning protection devices in village schools, refuge sites, and villagers’ cultural squares, investigated the lightning protection conditions of signal towers and base stations, and established accounts through discussion, information, and field visits. The inspection team also distributed lightning protection safety manuals to village leaders to further popularize the scientific knowledge of lightning protection in rural areas.
