The National Meteorological Observatory of Xiangxiang City Meteorological Bureau of Hunan Province completed the construction of a full-flash electric locator. The device can capture detailed lightning information within a range of 60 to 100 kilometers, record the precise time, direction, and discharge waveform characteristics of the lightning occurrence, and upload lightning data through the communication system in real time. It can run all-weather, long-term and continuous. After the equipment is put into use, it can perform full lightning monitoring and positioning of cloud flashes and ground flashes, which is conducive to forest fire prevention, lightning prevention and disaster reduction, and disaster investigation.
